COACHES CORNER

Resources and materials for the mentors / coaches.

One - to - One Coaching

The goals of integrating a coaching element into the Leadership Academy include the following:
  • Enrich the overall experience for the Academy participants
  • Provide confidential career development advice and other support for each of the Academy participants
  • Enhance the organizational and professional network of the participants
  • Renew and refresh the senior manager/coaches

Description
To provide a one-to-one coaching element to the Leadership Academy, each Academy participant from the local government agency will be matched with the Chief Executive, the Assistant Manager, or a Department Head from the agency (or in some cases a neighboring agency).

The senior managers/coaches will attend one of two orientation sessions via zoom. Attending one of the orientation sessions is a requirement for serving as a coach.
  • Session 1 October 26, 2020:  10:30 a.m. -  12:00 noon
  • Session 2 October 28, 2020:  1:00 p.m.  -  2:30 p.m.

It is expected that coaches and Academy participants will meet informally once per month for an hour starting after the second session for a total of at least three sessions.  These sessions will be informal and confidential exchanges.

At the discretion of the coach, the coach may invite the participant to an appropriate internal or outside professional meeting.
